The Moving Process

With Edward Neutz Sons and Daughters Moving, you have an entire team to support you throughout your household moving experience. Our training emphasizes a personalized approach, respect, care, and attention to detail. Every employee is committed to doing whatever it takes to make your move right.

Be Prepared

Your assigned Move Coordinator is responsible for assessing your moving needs, explaining all your moving service options, and accurately estimating your costs. Your home will be fully surveyed, either onsite or computerizedby phone, for items that will be moved, and the Coordinator will alert you to items that are not allowed for transportation or have special requirements. Your Move Coordinator will be available to help you with tips, ideas, and preparation guides throughout the move to ensure a stress-free and cost effective transition. Every move is different, requiring specific needs, don't worry, just let your coordinator know, they will help find the best service at the Right price.

Do a Once Over Check on Move Day

Prior to your movers arriving, you should do a once over check. The following areas should be prepared to ensure a smooth move process:

Check all cartons making sure that tags are legible or color-coded properly.  You should color-code or label, first by where the item will go in the new home, and second by contents in the carton if stored. Don’t forget to make a layout of where items are to be placed in the new home, this will save time and money.
Ensure accessibility to your belongings through out the home. Hallways cleared, doorways cleared. Make sure items are removed from tops of furniture, beds, sofas, etc… All items should be packed, stacked, and ready for movement.
Set aside an area in the home which you can place small items and important papers that will be going with you. Have several "Load Last Boxes" to accommodate hidden items or missed items.  If a large item is not being move place a tag on it so the mover will not touch.  Strip your beds, and make sure the bedding goes into a Load Last box.
Ensure all items are unplugged, unhooked, or dismantled. Make sure that you secure wiring, roll and tie. Appliances such as washers, dryers, grills, refrigerators with icemakers should be prepared for movement by an authorized service representative. Our movers can assist with these appliances, however, you are required to inspect and insure this service. Pictures and mirrors should be removed from walls and prepared for movement.
Make sure that someone is at home to welcome your movers and answer any questions. It's important that an adult be authorized to take your place if you are unable to be present at any time while the movers are there. Let your Moving Consultant know to whom you have given this authority. Be sure that your chosen representative knows exactly what to do. Remember - this person may be asked to sign documents obligating you to charges.

Delivery of Your Possessions

When your shipment arrives, you can help
expedite the unloading process by having
a room-by-room floor plan in mind or
diagramed on paper. Let the Team Leader
and professional movers know where you want moving boxes and other items placed as they're unloaded and brought into your home, either room by room or in one area.

The Team Leader and crew of professional movers will reassemble any items they disassembled at origin. You should check each item brought in, noting its condition. If an item appears to have been damaged while moving or is missing, make a note with the Team Leader and notify your Move Coordinator. Once all items are delivered do a final walk through with the Team Leader ensuring proper placement. Do not underestimate this final step, you may be tired at this point, but don't be regretful.

Contracts/Paperwork

Your Team Leader will prepare your Bill of Lading contract which also serves as your receipt.  You may want to secure this document for tax purposes, consult your accountant for any reductions possible. The Team Leader will review this document with you and explain all services and options.  In addition, the Bill of Lading will state your original estimate based on services anticipated.  You are required to sign this document prior to moving acknowledging its terms and conditions and after delivery indicating that all items were received appropriately.

The Team Leader will also review the Declaration of Value Contract with you.  This is an important document since it defines the estimated total value of all your household goods being moved.  Insurance companies are liable for the value you state for your goods. You are required to sign this document prior to any movement of items. Keep this document for your records in case any damage. You will have 30 days from the date of delivery to file a claim in the event of accidental damage. Take pictures of your belongings and if possible know its value, keep this in a secured place for your permanent records. Now is the time to update these documents.
